Is anyone else horny... get it right?
Our favorite part about Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons was hands down the endless abundance of wildlife!
We saw:
We started our Wyoming journey in Jackson Hole for some Pad Thai food and then met up with my cousin Ashton in her Yellowstone employee dorms for a game of Uno and welcome beers. We also visited the employee pub for some pool and late-night pizza.
The next day we were ready for an adventure! Dom made us quick yogurt bowls and then we set out to walk around the Yellowstone Lake Hotel - with my iced coffee of course! (Aunt Julie I am obsessed with my Graudation Yeti Cup Gift if you can't tell! It is in CONSISTENT rotation, haha!) There was a quick spot of a coyote, Elk 24, and a cinnamon bear, and before we knew it (not really because it's such a big park to drive through it takes forever) we were at the trailhead of Bunsen Peak. This hike was gorgeous!!! It offered some of the best views of the Yellowstone Valley and mountain ranges. It was about 4.25 miles with 1,227 feet of elevation gain... meaning.... switchbacks ☹️. After our tough hike, we showered up, said hi to the bearded dragon, Droggy, and headed out to the Cody, Wyoming Rodeo. Now this was a LEGIT rodeo. Completely put the Bryce Canyon Rodeo to shame. Dom and I ATE IT UPPP!! I'm going to need to be careful or our kids might become bullriders! 🤠
Day 3 we headed to the Grand Tetons with no top on.... no top on the Bronco sillies! But wait! Bear Jam. Haha. This is what Yellowstone "locals" (employees) call traffic jams caused by bear sightings. Dom and I peaked out the top of the Bronco while the Crazy Bear Lady, Ashton, bolted down the street TOWARDS Grizzly 399 for the $money$ shot. (It seriously is the money shot, she sells her amazing photography online and you MUST check it out after reading this!! Plug: @tourguideashton) We then arrived at the Tetons and hiked the String Lake trail to Inspiration Point and finally ventured into the Cascade Canyon (9 mi total). Dom and I want to come back to the Tetons in the future to finish this beautiful hike to the end of Cascade Canyon! This trail offered breathtaking views of Jenny Lake, waterfalls, and a secret peek into the canyon valley where we spotted a mama and baby moose. We ended the day with a fancy pre-birthday dinner for Ashton in Jackson Hole at a boujee pasta restaurant where they make all their pasta fresh in-house. We munched on homemade meatballs and Caesar salad, and each had phenomenal pasta. I devoured my elk bolognese sauce pasta while Dom took down the spicy vodka sauce pasta and Ashton had the star menu item - Tagliatelle - black pepper fonduta and summer truffles. Go, B-day girl! Thank you Mom & Dad for treating US and Ashton to a terrific post-hike dinner 🥳! For dessert, we headed to Ashton's old hotel for a pizzookie - and also saw Nikki Sixx from Mötley Crüe (slick bar selfie attached).
Day 4 was a Dom and Audrey adventure day around Old Faithful. We hiked to the Old Faithful Overlook where we could see the entire geyser basin. This was such a nice day to meander around on the boardwalks and admire all of the weird and colorful hot springs, fumaroles, mudpots, and geysers (there are four thermal features of Yellowstone).
We spent our last morning in Yellowstone hiking the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Brink of Lower Falls for the waterfalls along the Yellowstone River. Stunning and literally jaw-dropping.
This road trip stop requires an extreme thank you to our amazing host Ashton who guided us all around Yellowstone and treated us the entire time. How freaking cool to LIVE in a National Park!! We are so grateful! Love you Sis! 🫶
After we took it all in we headed north to Eric's (E-man) Family Ranch in Montanna....
